Homemade Strawberry Sauce
It is perfect for pouring over your shortcake, onto pancakes, waffles, yogurt, ice
cream, or pretty much any dessert you can think of! This was a real treat when
our Mom would make it.
This easy to make sauce only takes 3 ingredients.
Ingredients:
2 cups hulled and diced strawberries
½ tsp. fresh lemon juice
½ cup white sugar
Directions:
Hull and dice strawberries. About 1 pound of strawberries will give you the 2 cups needed for the recipe.
Add the strawberries to a medium size saucepan. Heat over medium heat.
Add the lemon juice and sugar and stir to coat the strawberries. The strawberries will start to soften and juice. Once you can see the juice start to boil, reduce the heat to low and continue to stir while the strawberries cook.
After cooking for 15 minutes remove the saucepan from the heat, and mash the strawberries to desired consistency.
Cover the strawberry sauce and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
Pour the strawberry sauce into a container that you can seal and store in the refrigerator. Enjoy!!
Love the strawberry sauce recipe! I will definitely use it! Thanks, Linda. Your posts are always so heart-warming and make me smile!
